Quinta do Peru Golf Course
The American architect Rocky Roquemore was responsible for the project and has designed a course for amateur golfers, but nevertheless representing a challenge for professional players. The course, with its many trees and wild flowers, offers a varied start, for the first three holes are a Par 5, then a Par 4 over 386 metres, and Par 3 over 186 metres. Still on the first half of the course, hole number 8, a 190 metres Par 4 has a lake in front of its green. The next nine holes are even more difficult.
Montado Golf Course
It was designed by the Portuguese Duarte Sottomayor, who began his career working with the famous Robert Trent Jones. The course unfolds beneath old oaks and younger olive trees, chestnut and pines, planted when the course was first built, whilst around it wind creeks and natural lakes. Some holes are unforgettable. Hole number 5, a Par 4 with a dogleg to the left, demands a good drive in which the second shot is played onto a wide green protected by water. Another hole of great scenic beauty is number 13, a Par 4 that provides a great view over Palmela Castle and an excellent opportunity for a birdie.
Troia Golf Course
Considered to be Portugal's most difficult golf course, Troia is for that reason a major challenge to any golfer. It is one of the links designed by the famous Robert Trent Jones and opened in 1982. Its principal obstacle is sand which borders the whole course, where pine trees and wild plants are also found in abundance. With breathtaking views over the ocean and a welcoming clubhouse set among pine trees, Troia is surely a golfers' paradise. | | Type of accommodation: | | hotel | | Location: | | Directly on the edge of a beach | | Star rating: | | 4* | | Fittings: | | exchange office, sauna, lounges, restaurant, reception desk, laundry, parking, hammam, conference room/cabinet, hairdresser, internet, day-care, fitness, internal swimming pool, swimming pool for children, swimming pool, bar | | Sport in place: | | tennis, table tennis, fitness, playground, swimming pool | | Sport in neighborhood: | | water sports, water-ski, scuba diving, sailing, horse riding, golf |
